Show Information:

Join us on March 24th and 25th, as Amherst Middle School Drama Club presents its production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.  Students have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into making this production a magical experience for the audience.

Two separate casts of students will give a total of 5 performances of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on March 24th and 25th.  The students have been hard at work since the beginning of the school year, attending workshops designed to teach acting, character analysis, stage presence, set creation and design, and technology. Six students in the 7th and 8th grade met once a week after school for two months re-writing a script by Kirk Buis of Alice in Wonderland.  Under the direction of Susan Williams, a parent volunteer, students have been involved in designing and constructing a fabulous set for the play.  Noel DePalma, a sixth grade teacher with a theater background, is coaching and directing the students and his hard work is paying off as our students’ theatrical performances are improving.  Mike Cargill, our technology specialist, has been working with a group of students teaching technical aspects of theater, including photography, filming, and special effects. Their work is illustrated throughout our website.  Janet Maxwell and Diane Gryctko have worked tirelessly as club founders and continue to provide direction and encouragement as all aspects of this student production come together.

Our students have learned a tremendous amount and are eager to share their production with the community.  Please join us for a performance, and enjoy the magical world that our AMS students have created!

Teacher Rewards Program for Internet Safety

Internet Safety (I.S.) in an important part of educating and prepare our students to become responsible adults. As teachers, we often teach I.S. when there’s extra time, but forget that these concepts can be intergraded in our core instruction and many concepts can support SOL based instruction lessons directly. Because of this, I would like to introduce the Teacher Reward Program (T.R.P.) for Internet Safety.   For those who choose to participate in the T.R.P. by submitting a completed I.S. rubric online, you will be eligible for a quarterly drawing for an  Apple iTunes Gift Card with a value of at least $10.00 per nine weeks of submission. *( See details below)

*Details:

  • ·         Each 9 weeks a drawing will take place from all three of my schools that have completed teacher completed I.S. Rubrics within that specific nine-weeks, and have emailed me a copy.
  • ·         Each teacher can submit one(1) I.S. lesson rubric per nine-weeks, for a total of four(4) per school year. (With each quarterly submission, chances of your rubric (s) being selected increase!)
  • ·         The email date is how I determine the 9-weeks submitted.
  • ·         I will allow one week from the end of each 9-weeks to submit your rubric for that particular 9-weeks. (1st nine weeks last day to submit is Friday 10/22/2010)
  • ·         2nd nine-weeks I.S rubric submission will begin on October 18, 2010 and end on December 17, 2010. (2nd nine weeks last day to submit is Friday 1/7/2011)
  • ·         You may submit one I.S. lesson per nine-weeks, but it must be from a different Internet Safety Concept…which include:
    • o   Personal Safety
    • o   Cyberbullying
    • o   Copyright
    • o   Source Evaluation
  • ·         One teacher rubric from all three schools combined will be selected per nine-weeks in a random drawing.
  • ·         Selected winning teacher will be asked to submit a picture and short I.S. lesson description that will be posted on my website at  http://technoman222.pbworks.com
  • ·         Participation in this Teacher Rewards Program for Internet Safety is by choice and not required. If you wish not to have your rubric in the program, just say so in your email.  At this time, only online submission will be selected…hard copied rubrics will not be considered at this point.
  • ·         Email me any questions you may have concerning T.R.P.
  • ·         Note: This T.R.P. does not change the requirements of the middle school framework for Internet Safety that is attached. Its’ purpose is to encourage teachers to go beyond the minimal standards of the framework and  to broaden the instructional bases of different internet safety concepts for their individual classes.

This Teacher Rewards Program for Internet Safety is one way to say “Thank You” for your time and effort in development of proper internet safety practices in our students and in helping them to become responsible adults.
